WHAT SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPY AT ADAPT. PERFORM. IS

Sports Physiotherapy in Bristol — What to Expect

Sports physiotherapy at ADAPT. PERFORM. is built around one principle: getting you back to what you do — not just out of pain, but genuinely ready to perform at the level you’re aiming for.

That means combining clinical physiotherapy with strength and conditioning, objective performance testing and programming analysis into a single, continuous process. You don’t get assessed by one person, rehabilitated by another and handed to a third for return to sport. One practitioner, one philosophy, the whole way through.

I work with athletes and active individuals across Bristol — from competitive runners and team sport players to CrossFit and Hyrox athletes, combat sports competitors, triathletes and gym-based lifters — as well as recreational athletes and anyone for whom sport and movement are a serious part of life.

WHO I WORK WITH

I work with anyone aged 13 and above for whom sport and physical performance matter. That includes:

  • Runners — from 5k to ultra, track to trail

  • Triathletes and endurance athletes

  • Footballers, rugby players and team sport athletes

  • Hyrox and CrossFit athletes

  • Kickboxers, boxers and MMA fighters

  • Tennis and Padel players

  • Swimmers and open water athletes

  • Gym-based strength and powerlifters

  • Cyclists and mountain bikers

  • Recreationally active individuals who train regularly

Whether you compete at a high level or just train hard because you love it, the approach is the same — understand what’s going on, rebuild what needs rebuilding, and get you back to performing at your best.

WHAT SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPY INVOLVES

Every person I work with starts with a thorough assessment — not just of the injury or symptoms, but of the physical demands of their sport and what the body needs to meet them.

Assessment

Your initial session includes a detailed discussion about your injury history, training background and performance goals, followed by a physical assessment covering movement analysis, strength and capacity testing, and load tolerance profiling. Where appropriate, I use dynamometry and force plate analysis to get objective data on where you are right now.

Rehabilitation

Treatment is exercise-led and progressive. Depending on your presentation and goals it may include:

  • Strength-based rehabilitation and progressive loading

  • Isometrics and heavy slow resistance for tendon management

  • Movement retraining and mechanics work

  • Blood flow restriction training where appropriate

  • Hands-on treatment where clinically indicated

Return to Performance

Once the foundations are in place, rehabilitation transitions into sport-specific preparation — plyometrics, power development, change-of-direction work, sprint reintroduction and sport-specific conditioning. Progression is guided by objective criteria, not just how you feel.

ONE COMPLETE SERVICE — THE ADAPT. PERFORM. DIFFERENCE

Elite-Standard Care. For Everyone.

The standard of physiotherapy and rehabilitation that professional athletes receive — force plate testing, dynamometry, programming analysis, objective return-to-sport criteria, evidence-based recovery guidance on training load, sleep, nutrition and supplementation — has never been the exclusive preserve of professionals.

At ADAPT. PERFORM., every person I work with receives that same level of rigour and detail. Not because they’re elite. Because it’s the right way to do it.

And because I combine physiotherapy, sport science and strength and conditioning in a single continuous process — rather than passing you between practitioners — nothing gets lost between your injury and your return to sport.

Sports and Injuries I Treat

I provide sports physiotherapy for a wide range of sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. Common presentations include:

  • Muscle strains — hamstring, quadriceps, calf

  • Tendon pain — Achilles, patellar, hamstring, gluteal

  • Ligament injuries — ACL, MCL, ankle

  • Running-related overuse injuries

  • Shoulder pain and instability

  • Hip and groin pain

  • Post-operative rehabilitation

  • Bone stress injuries and stress fractures
